Conrad Engelhardt kortlagde i 1881 for Nationalmuseet e...&quot;</p> <p><b>Ny side</b></p><div>Kringelhøj er en gravhøj beliggende i dalningen nord for [[Horne Efterskole]], på østsiden af [[Kringehøjvej]].<br /> <br /> Conrad Engelhardt kortlagde i 1881 for Nationalmuseet en del af områdets tidlige forhistorie. I flere uger optegnede han Horne og de mange stendysser og andre gravhøje, der lå i området; flere end 20 fik han opmålt og registreret; bl.a. Kringelhøj.<br /> <br /> I sine optegnelser skrev Engelhardt bl.a.:<br /> <br /> Kringelhøj. Rund, græsklædt Høj i Ager, ompløjet i Firkant. Ca. 18 m. i Tvm. Ligger for <br /> Sydenden af smalt Dalstrøg, lavt mellem Bakker. […] Spredt bevokset med Fyr. Sydligt i <br /> Topfladen […] findes en gl., nu tilgroet Gravning, ca. ¾ m. dyb, 1½ m. vid. […]<br /> Det forekom mig lidet troligt, at Højen nogensinde kunde være bleven overpløjet, <br /> saaledes som Bahnson angiver; NØ-siden er meget stejl. Men det er dog rigtigt: efter <br /> hvad Ejeren fortæller, pløjede baade hans Fader og den tidligere Ejer over Højen, men <br /> saa kom der Sygdom (døvstumme Børn!) som Straf, og Pløjningen indstilledes.</div>
